Visitors to the RM of South Norfolk continue to enjoy many of
the amenities they have to offer. During your next visit be sure to stop in and see
the Glass House and Church. These unique structures were made of bottles by Bob and
Dora Cain. This attraction is located 1 1/2 miles north of Nunn's Equipment (Hwy
#2), 1 mile west and 2 1/2 miles north.
Located two miles east of
Treherne on Hwy 2, a scenic 9 hole public golf course open May through
October.
Large grass greens, watered
fairways, pro shop, restaurant, rental clubs and carts available. Visitors and
tournaments are welcome. Tee times can be scheduled daily by calling the pro
shop at (204) 723-2502.
Located six miles south of
Treherne on PR # 242. Visitors enjoy the viewing tower, canoe launch and ungroomed
scenic walking trail around the lake.
Shelter is also provided to
enjoy a natural visit while cooking a lunch or having a picnic. Pinkerton Lakes
Wildlife Refuge provides an excellent opportunity to see wildlife and birds in their
natural setting.
Located in Treherne, the
Cottonwood campground greats many tourist through the summer months with its many cotton
trees. "The Fort" playground is an attraction for children. This
campground has both serviced and unserviced sites, a picnic shelter and showers.
Also situated near the
Cottonwood Campground is the Tiger Mountain Pool. The pool is heated and open for
public swimming in the afternoons and evenings throughout the summer. Swimming
lessons are also available by calling 723-2150.
Open May to
September, the Treherne Museum continues to attract visitors from miles away. The
main building houses a large gun collection, doll collection and furniture and household
items. the house is furnished and decorated in early 1900's style.
An indoor replica village features an early 1900's restaurant, bank, one
room school, church, blacksmith shop and antique machinery display featuring a Waterloo
threshing machine. Admission is by donation and larger groups can book a visit by
calling 723-2621.
Throughout the winter many
people come to South Norfolk to enjoy cross country skiing, skating, hockey, curling and
bowling. No matter on the time of year there is always something happening in South
Norfolk. |
